Hey, I'm Lea <3
Sitting here in front of my laptop, trying to figure out what to write about myself, I find it incredibly difficult. Maybe I should start at the beginning. How did I even get into ceramics?
My path to ceramics isn't exactly typical, but I think that's true for many people. I'm actually a trained police officer, yeah, I know, something COMPLETELY different, but somehow it's also exciting to tell my story. Spoiler alert: it's about to get personal. I felt more than uncomfortable in that profession. I lacked a real perspective, and let's be honest, the system is just sh*t... you know. Honestly, at that time, I didn't really have a life anymore; I was just functioning. The first doubts about whether this was really how my life should stay came very quickly... I was repeatedly told that I had changed, and I had... not really for the better, as you might imagine.
Well, then I took a pottery class, just like that, to escape everyday life. I'm telling you honestly, after that class, I immediately knew I HAD to work there. Half a year later, I did it, completely hung up my police career, and off I went to the pottery. I started with an internship in a pottery in Hamburg. Somehow, my whole life changed then, and also my attitude towards myself. I was able to fully immerse myself in the craft of ceramics, built my small home studio, started with social media to take you along on my ceramics journey. Completely delulu, I bought my own kiln, even though I had no place to put it, let alone use it, hahaha. Yes, and now I simply have my own small studio in Altona, give my own workshops, and love every day of my life.
Oh, and always by my side is my dog Max; you'll definitely see him in my studio sometime.
